Known in ancient times as Qosqo, present-day Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire and the vital center of Tahuantinsuyo. Recognized as the Archaeological Capital of the Americas, this city, considered by the Incas to be the "Navel of the World," preserves its ancient legacy to this day and is one of the most visited destinations in Peru.
